0 Russian Trailer: The Avengers

It’s been a while since we talked Avengers so let’s bring this one back. A new Russian dubbed trailer for the Avengers appeared online and miraculously this clip features some more previously unseen footage.

Lot’s of new footage in there, lots more explosions, and a few more scenes of random Avengers staring at some unseen threat in the sky, and that word ‘playboy’ coming from Tony Stark which seems to be universal in any language. Since Avi Arad, CEO and chair of Marvel Studios, made it clear at NYCC that he wants to develop a film about the Inhumans I’ll put on my thinking cap, go out on a limb, and say that my best guess is that Loki will team with the Kree in this film in some sort of world domination scheme.
I’ve been scratching my head as to who Joss Whedon is hiding behind the curtain for a while and I really can’t imagine any other seqway into Marvel’s “Phase 2″ of their Avengers initiative consisting of Doctor Strange, Antman, and the InHumans… well, except maybe for Galactus but I’m not sure if Marvel has the rights for that character or not.

1 A Fantastic Retro Poster for 'The Paperboy' from Director Lee Daniels

The Paperboy
We've only heard about Lee Daniels' adaptation of The Paperboy, based on Peter Dexter's novel of the same name, through various casting stories, but now the 2012 is kicking off its marketing campaign with a fantastic poster that calls back to films from the 1970's or even book covers from that same decade. Complete with a faded color and the period setting to go with it, this is one of the more original attempts to sell a film like this that we've seen in a long time. Zac Efron looks a bit like James Dean (or a young Ron Eldard) and John Cusack (replacing Tobey Maguire) just looks creepy with that guy-liner. See it below!
Here's the first official "retro" poster for Lee Daniels' The Paperboy, courtesy of RopeofSilicon:
The Paperboy - Poster

Lee Daniels (Precious) directs The Paperboy adapted from Peter Dexter's novel of the same name which follows Ward James (Matthew McConaughey), a Miami Times reporter who returns to his hometown to investigate the murder of a local sheriff who is eventually helped by his younger brother Jack (Zac Efron) as they investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a man on death row. Throughout the process Jack falls for the woman (Nicole Kidman) whom the convict (John Cusack) has been romancing through prison correspondence. No official release date has been set, but the film will likely hit theaters sometime in 2012.

0 New Hi-Res ‘Underworld: Awakening’ images

I don’t talk much about the Underworld franchise. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine and it’s right up there with the Resident Evil films and a few others. I don’t set the expectations very high story-wise for these movies and they’re typically just good excuses for picking up theater popcorn and looking at beautiful people in goth outfits. As such I just felt the urge to show you guys these photo’s for the upcoming movie that I found online.

0 First Photo: Magic Mike

The first photo for Steven Soderbergh’s semi-biopic on the life of Channing Tatum has hit the web and it features Matthew McConaughey! Warning, this is a movie about male strippers. ’nuff said.

Uhm, yeah. They sure look like they’re about to take those clothes off. A picture says a thousand words so…
International friends: Look at the above picture of Matthew McConaughey. Consider his face. Look into his eyes. What is he thinking about?

1 Year in Review: The 11 Best Action Films of 2011

11. Hanna
The Best Action Movies of 2011: Hanna
Eric Bana is a secret action star with a few good turns in a couple of flicks, but in Hanna he really gets to shine as an ass kicking secret agent. That being said, it’s the young Saoirse Ronan who really brings home the bacon and drop kicks it through a door. There are several very good fight scenes in the movie, but it doesn’t rank higher because I don’t understand how Bana’s character never decides to just get a gun and kill these assholes. Still, the movie is worth a watch if just to see what happens when Hanna thinks she has her target within reach the first time.

0 Watch: Japanese Trailer for 'John Carter' Has Plenty of New Footage

John Carter Japanese Trailer
The second trailer for John Carter released a little while back finally gave us a taste of the big action we can expect from the western/sci-fi hybrid based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' books. Taylor Kitschstars as the titular character, a Civil War captain who gets transported to Mars, where he meets Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins) and other alien races living on the thriving red planet, and a new Japanese trailer has emerged which still has some great action hits, but also gives us a better idea of the story with new footage we haven't seen. The more I see from Andrew Stanton's first live-action venture, the more interested I am. Watch!
Here's the Japanese trailer for Disney's John Carter

John Carter (of Mars) is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic sci-fi adventures, telling of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Collins). Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands. John Carter is directed by Pixar alum Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall-E) from a screenplay by Mark Andrews, Michael Chabon & Stanton. Disney is bringing John Carter to theaters in 3D eveywhere starting March 9th, 2012 this spring.

0 Trailer: Goon

It’s been a while since I last saw Sean William Scott headlining a movie but he’s back in full force in the latest trailer for ‘Goon’. I like the actor enough and keep an eye out for his projects with the latest trailer recently appearing online.

This seems somewhat funny, but obviously very slapstick. The film also stars Liev Schriber, which is a favorite of mine, but I have not yet reserved a place for this movie on my radar. The movie did stand out among other movies because it will be a film that will make it’s way to ‘Video On Demand’ before appearing in theaters. It’s an idea that studios have been playing with for a while with mixed feedback from audiences and more importantly theater owners. I’m not quite sure if theaters are looking to rely on this movie for revenue but I am curious as to how this movie will perform financially. I’ll keep an eye on the news, but am still undecided on the movie itself.

0 Darkest Hour Trailer and viral video

I don’t know much about this Darkest Hour film but I did come across this clip that seems to be making the rounds to promote the upcoming movie. I won’t reveal what happens in this clip but be sure to watch until the very end.

Very interesting. Not a lot of anything but you know what? It captured my attention and made me want now want to learn more about what this movie is about.
Here’s the trailer as well:

0 LOL: ‘Siri: The Holiday Horror Movie’

I think we’ve all seen enough crappy parodies at this point to appreciate that this is actually a pretty well-made trailer. I laughed at the obligatory The Shining reference, but my favorite gag has to be Siri offering a knife app for the poor sap just trying to open his present. Never has “There’s an app for that” sounded quite so menacing.
I’d like to imagine that Siri itself would appreciate the joke, in its own way. It’s demonstrated a healthy and rather sassy sense of humor in the past, as you can see for yourself in this gallery of funny Siri responses.

0 See the Final ‘Prometheus’ Trailer Tease, and a New Photo

Fox is pushing this a little far at this point, but with the release of the third tease for the trailer for Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, we at least get many glimpses of behind the scenes footage. The two teases we’ve seen so far got us ready for the trailer release, which is scheduled for tomorrow, but we’ll take the third, just because things are slowing down as we approach Christmas.
As a bonus, we’ve also got a new still image from the movie. If you’ve been hungry to see Michael Fassbender wielding a flashlight, this is the one for you.

Prometheus is directed by Ridley Scott, written by Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihtsand stars Noomi RapaceMichael FassbenderCharlize TheronIdris ElbaSean HarrisKate DickieRafe SpallLogan Marshall-GreenGuy Pearce, and Patrick Wilson. It will hit theaters on June 8, 2012.

0 ‘Wrath of the Titans’ Theatrical Trailer

Another new trailer is online today with this one featuring Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson for the upcoming Wrath of the Titans film. Let’s take a look at how this movie is shaping below…

0 ’21 Jump Street’ Poster and Trailer

Though it’s being touted as a remake of the ’80s TV series starring Johnny Depp, anyone with even a passing familiarity with the source material will recognize that Phil Lord and Chris Miller‘s upcoming action-comedy 21 Jump Street has little in common with its predecessor.
No, the real draw of the action-comedy so far looks to be in the surprisingly lively chemistry between leads Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum — and accordingly, two new bits of marketing from Columbia highlight just that. After the jump, check out a new trailer in which the pair team up to break all the rules spelled out by their supervising officer (Ice Cube) and a poster that shows off the two guys making the cutest prom couple ever.
The new trailer recycles most of the same jokes we’ve already seen in the two previously released trailers, but it’s got just enough new material to be worth checking out. And it actually turns out most of the old jokes work the second time around as well.

As for the poster, I guess we’ll have to wait til the movie opens to find out what possesses these two to think renting matching white tuxes for the senior prom is a good idea — but at least they look sharp

0 ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Theatrical Trailer

A new, stunning, trailer for Christopher Nolan’s conclusion to his Batman trilogy is now online. No, there’s nothing else to say, quit wasting time reading this and play the damn trailer already!

0 A new Expendables 2 poster

A new poster is available for the Expendables 2 continuing the marketing onslaught that we’ve endured over the last few days. Let’s take a look at how this poster measures up to the rest of the promotion for this film.

0 Look at the new poster for Prometheus

A new poster is available for Ridley Scott’s upcoming pseudo prequel to the Alien franchise titled Prometheus and gives us a new look at the direction of the film. Let’s take a look and critique!

I dunno why but for some reason it creeps me out. I’m not a wimp, it’s just something about the imagery that I can’t pinpoint. WTF is that face back there and is that somehow a tie-in to Alien? I like it and more importantly it has me intrigued.

0 New ‘John Carter’ Poster and Banners

I think Disney’s John Carter still faces an uphill battle when it comes to generating/earning the interest of an audience. The good news for Disney is that there are still a couple months left to build that interest. If you’ve missed the recent trailer, you can check it out here, and now the studio is putting out images that really emphasize the fact that there are some giant creatures in the movie. Check them out below.
Makes sense to emphasize the big creatures in the poster that also trumpets the IMAX release of the movie. We’ll keep hopes up for the story and characters in this one, but it will probably look spectacular on the big IMAX screens, at the very least.
John Carter stars Taylor KitschLynn CollinsSamantha MortonMark Strong,Ciaran HindsDominic WestJames PurefoyDaryl SabaraPolly WalkerBryan CranstonThomas Hayden Church, and Willem Dafoe. It is directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding NemoWall-E) and opens on March 9th.
