0 Lily Collins Cast in Fede Alvarez's Remake of Sam Raimi's 'Evil Dead'

Lily Collins

Though the actress looks to be in the lesser of the two Snow White films with Mirror, Mirror, that isn't stopping Lily Collins' star from rising after a brief role in The Blind Side helped her land supporting roles in Abduction and Priest, and now she's landed a pretty big role in a gestating horror remake. Bloody Disgusting reports Collins has landed the role of Mia in Fede Alvarez's remake of Sam Raimi's 1981 cult classic film The Evil Dead. The character is one of five friends holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead which unleashes a demonic force possessing each until only one is left to fight.
Sounds very similar to the original, but there's a new subplot, and it actually involves Collins' character. Mia is actually heading to the cabin to detox with her friend Olivia who is also her nurse. Meanwhile David is a mechanic engaged to Natalie, and it's been speculated that the final character Eric is the one who unleashes the demons from the Book of the Dead. Of course, since Mia is coming off a recent overdose and begins acting insane, so no one believes her crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her. The film is slated for release on April 12th, 2013, so we'll have to wait awhile to see how it turns out. Stay tuned.

0 New Ghost Rider TV spot makes it look cool

Ghost Rider has a funny rap on the internet. The first movie was downright awful but somehow also endearing. It came and went with a whimper so when a sequel was announced for the film most of the internet released a collective “meh”. Fast forward a comic con or two and the film has been releasing footage in anticipation of its release and even a TV spot.

I like this. It has that frantic cinematography that Nevildine and Taylor are known to deliver and gives us a much grittier tone and look for the character than we saw in the “horrible but somehow fun to watch” 2007 flick. He just looks “dirty” and hellish and the new direction in art style does wonders for the character. I also like that they even managed to relate that the Ghost Rider is, in most senses, a boogeyman. Am I the only one digging this new direction, or do you think it’s a dud in the making?

0 Trailer and Poster: Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in Safe House

A new poster appeared for the upcoming movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington for their flick ‘Safe House’ for us to dissect, critique, and theorize upon. Upon first glance of this poster I immediately began thinking about Jason Bourne and Jake Shuttlesworth (He Got Game).

0 New Hunger Games photos online

I’m really trying to get interested in this movie. It’s not easy. Some new hi-res photo’s made their way online that is sure to excite fans of the novels and maintain non-fans disinterest.

Very very uninteresting to me. So far the marketing guys for this movie have not yet captured my interest and this film is about on par with the ‘Twilight’ franchise as far as my radar is concerned (and I never talk about Twilight!). I’ll keep sharing new stuff as it’s available but these guys aren’t making this any easier…

0 ‘Upside Down’ Trailer: A Wild Sci-Fi Romance to Kick Off the New Year

"We don't go down to their world, we certainly don't want them coming up to ours." Wow, what a way to kick off the New Year! French distributor Canal+ has posted the first official French trailer for Juan Diego Solanas' Upside Down, a futuristic sci-fi romance starring Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgessthat we've been teasing for a while with photos. Now we can see what the movie itself is all about and damn does it look good, kind of like Andrew Niccol's sci-fi mixed with the upside-down worlds concept. I can't wait to see this, 2012 looks like it'll be an amazing year for sci-fi. I hope it doesn't take too long for this to hit theaters!

Watch the first official French trailer for Juan Diego Solanas' Upside Down:

Jim Sturgess stars as Adam, a seemingly ordinary guy in a very extraordinary universe. He lives humbly trying to make ends meet, but his romantic spirit holds on to the memory of a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent world with its own gravity, directly above but beyond reach... a girl named Eve (get the names?), played by Kirsten Dunst. That childhood flirtation becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of grown-up Eve on television, nothing will get in the way of getting her back. Written & directed by Argentinian filmmaker Juan Diego Solanas, it doesn't have a US distributor yet.
